Is it possible for ECExpressions to read the Display Label from Class Editor rather than the Name?

We have been generating our BOM from a custom property called ITEM with all of our PIping Components.

this.PIPE_MATERIAL is a property that users select from a drop down menu.  It has a select few options generated from the PIPE_MATERIAL_VALUE_MAP

In Openplant the Display Label is shown when we select the material, but the ITEM description shows the Name (with underscores)

We would like it to show the Display Label in the ITEM description as well.  Is this possible?
